Modular Messaging

Training Overview

This course provides the technical background that participants need to administer Avaya Modular Messaging.

This course is designed for customers with responsibility for administering Modular Messaging for MSS. It is intended to be delivered onsite and cover the trainees live system. This includes one general session lasting one day for up to eight parties. The client is expected to provide an adequate area to support the classroom size and an overhead projector with network connections and permissions to allow access to the Modular Messaging MAS and MSS systems.

Additionally, this course provides a hands-on review for system administrators involved in the day-to-day use of Avaya Modular Messaging for Avaya Message Store architecture. The course covers initial MAS and MSS post-installation tasks, daily ongoing administration, diagnostics on the MSS and MAS, and use of Mailbox Manager, voice mail system configuration, Automated Attendant, caller applications, maintenance, reporting, and troubleshooting in the customer environment.

Course instruction to cover:

  • Configuring the Avaya Message Storage Server (MSS)
  • Configuring the Messaging Application Server (MAS)
  • Finalizing and administering the system, including an orientation to the Mailbox Manager tool

After completing training, users should be able to:

  • Describe the Modular Messaging solution
  • Identify the components of Modular Messaging and their relationship within a messaging network
  • Describe the configuration process
  • Describe the Mailbox Manager tools used to administer subscribers
  • Administer the Messaging Application Server (MAS) software after installation and initialization of Avaya Modular Messaging.
  • Administer the Message Storage Server (MSS) software after installation and initialization of Avaya Modular Messaging.
  • Support the enterprise by managing ongoing administration of Avaya Modular Messaging.
  • Use diagnostics and reports from the Message Storage Server (MSS) to maintain the integrity of the Avaya Modular Messaging system.
  • Use diagnostics and reports from the Messaging Application Server (MAS) to maintain the integrity of the Avaya Modular Messaging system.
  • Use Mailbox Manager to create, modify and delete subscribers and classes of service.

Prerequisite Knowledge

You should have experience or certification in networking and experience or certification in the Microsoft Windows 2003 Operating System as appropriate.
